Sam qualified in 2001 and worked in general practice for 2 years before joining Glasgow as the Special Support Nurse in Oncology. Sam was a Specialist Practitioner Nurse in Oncology having achieved the Diploma in Advanced Veterinary Nursing (Medicine) in 2007, a BSc in Veterinary Nursing in 2009, and an MSc in Veterinary Medicine. Sam became the Deputy Nursing Services Manager in 2014 where she co-managed a team of approximately 60 veterinary nurses and veterinary care assistants. She is now a full-time Lecturer in the Veterinary Teaching Team and is Director of the online distance learning PGCert/PGDip/MSc Advanced Practice in Veterinary Nursing, and First Year Course Leader for the BVMS programme. Her current research interests include issues which affect the veterinary nursing profession including burnout and poor retention, and what motivates veterinary nurses to undertake postgraduate education. Sam is currently working towards a Doctorate in Education.
