Description
This 50 minute eCPD lecture for veterinary nurses covers all the aspects of urinary care in dogs. We will start by looking at urolith formation, and the factors that affect it. Emergency first aid care for those dogs that are presented with blocked bladders, including diagnosis and imaging methods will be covered, along with the use of antibiotics and cystotomy surgery. Retrograde hydropulsion will be explained and how it may be utilised to unblock the dog. Care of the patient, monitoring post blockage and fluid therapy care will be discussed. Each different types of urolith will be explored along with their individual treatments and nutritional management. We will also look at urinalysis and sediment analysis.
