Nutritional Management of Osteoarthritis

Osteoarthritis is a common chronic condition in dogs and cats that causes pain, reduced mobility, and decreased quality of life. Nutrition can help support joint health and complement medical management. This CPD module explores evidence-based dietary strategies, including weight management and key nutrients that may benefit pets with OA. Attendees will learn practical approaches to incorporating nutritional support into OA care to improve comfort, mobility, and long-term outcomes

Georgia qualified as a veterinary nurse in 2004 from Myerscough College, Preston. In 2010 Georgia was appointed as Head Nurse and clinical coach of a small animal practice in Cheshire, developing successful obesity care and other nursing clinics.  In June 2015, Georgia took the position of ROYAL CANIN® Weight Management Clinic Nurse at the University of Liverpool, Small Animal Teaching Hospital, where she is now dealing exclusively with pet obesity and nutrition. In addition to the day to day running of the clinic, Georgia also assists with the research the clinic undertakes and has provided education to vets and nurses throughout many countries around the world.  Georgia gained her Certificate in Canine and Feline Veterinary Health Nutrition in 2017, the American Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS) in Nutrition certificate in 2019 – being 1 of only 25 people to hold this accreditation, and her BSc (Hons) Veterinary Nursing (Top up) degree in 2022.

This online course is worth 2 hours of CPD.

 

A certificate will be available from the ‘My Courses’ section, for you to download and print, once you have completed the course.  A permanent record of your total CPD hours will also be recorded in your account section.

Australia and New Zealand 

The Australian Veterinary Nurse and Technician (AVNAT) Regulatory Council has allocated 2 AVNAT CPD points to this continuing education activity.

– maybe most suitable for qualified nurses in general practice approaching a new topic or looking for a refresher course

Intermediate
– maybe most suitable for qualified nurses in general practice along with referral / specialist nurses looking for a refresher course

Advanced
– maybe most suitable for referral / specialist nurses and highly experienced qualified nurses in general practice
