Canine Cushing’s disease, or hyperadrenocorticism, is a condition resulting from chronic excessive cortisol. This 45 minute eCPD tutorial for veterinary nurses explains the pathogenesis, presenting clinical signs, common diagnostic tests and treatment options for hyperadrenocorticism. The role of the veterinary nurse is critical in the diagnosis and management of this chronic medical condition. The goal of this presentation is to increase awareness and understanding of this condition and therefore improve the care of affected dogs.

Chris graduated from the University of Bristol in 2007 and worked in small animal practice for the next three years. In 2010 he undertook an internship at the University of Bristol followed by a residency in small animal internal medicine at the Royal Veterinary College. He became a Diplomate of the ACVIM in 2015 and completed his PhD in feline acromegaly in 2017. Chis was Head of Internal Medicine at Southfield Veterinary Specialists for several years, before returning to the RVC as Senior Lecturer. Chris’ main areas of interest are canine and feline endocrinology and pituitary diseases in particular.
