This 30 minute eCPD tutorial is designed to help nurses understand the pathology of cruciate disease, how it is diagnosed and will also cover several common treatment options. Areas covered include:
- Anatomy of the stifle
- Causes of cruciate rupture
- Reaching a diagnosis, including imaging
- Common surgical procedures (extracapsular stabilisation and TPLO)
- Peri and Post-operative care

Chris graduated from the University of Bristol in 2001 and he worked as a mixed general practitioner for four years in North Wales and Rugby before joining the Park Veterinary Referrals in 2005 to concentrate on small animal work. He gained the RCVS Certificate in Small Animal Surgery in 2009 and is a recognised RCVS Advanced Practitioner in Small Animal Surgery. He moved to the referral team at Dovecote Veterinary Hospital in 2021
