The Nurse's Role in Behaviour

eCPD Tutorial with Francesca Riccomini

This 90 minute eCPD tutorial will look at the nature of problem behaviour and why it matters, and then will discuss how to identify indicators of minor and more major behavioural difficulties and when these issues are likely to be noticed. It will cover how nursing staff can help with prevention and resolution of pets’ problematic behaviour – including ‘first aid advice’ and useful sources of client support. Clients often view veterinary nurses as being particularly approachable, empathetic and supportive and a valuable source of practical advice. They may feel less intimidated about raising problems they are having with their pets’ behaviour with nursing staff than with veterinarians, and nurses frequently have more ‘hands-on’ encounters with both patients and their owners, which creates opportunities to highlight significant issues and create important channels of communication.
